LOVE is...

I had to create my own Valentines Subway Art.
Or better yet, a Subway Art that represents HIS Love or what LOVE is.
In this new house I have two fire places. So that mean double the fun of mantle displays!
I made this heart with buttons on burlap on canvas, last year. Check out my Valentines Day mantle from last year. And yes this is a picture of Ben and I from 1994!
The whole thing (picture, frame and wording around the picture)
was a gift from Ben, way back when!
I think I may take this new Subway Art and display it permanently in my bedroom.
Last year I made this burlap bunting. I so easy and so cute!
I'd love for you to have your own copy of my new "LOVE is"
Subway Art to display in your home.
Click here for the FREE download.
You will need to crop the print first. I designed it for 16 x 20 printing.
The line "always protects" has purposely done in a very faint pink, just to mix it up a bit!
Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine's Mantle Display

I love decorating for the holidays. And Valentine's has to be one of my favorites.
I love red and I love hearts and I love chocolate!
To see last years mantle display head over here. I added a couple things this year
(and I've got a new house and new mantle).
I created the "Oh How He Loves US and the B + C (that's Ben plus Chessa!)
with my Silhouette on an 8 x 10 canvas that I painted.
I bought hollow cardboard L O V E letters and spray painted them silver.
I just adore these little arrows!
I cut out hearts and arrows from red and white felt.
Grabbed some sticks from the backyard.
And hot glued the felt on each side.
Super simple. And it only took me a couple minutes.

 Aren't they so cute?!
This could be a great craft for kids too!
I also cut some little felt hearts and glue them to sticks (also found in my backyard).

I love this Subway art created by Diana at Project Inspire. You can find it here.
Make sure to head back next week, I've got another mantle to share and
my very own Valentines Subway Art I created and I'd like to share!

Valentine's Mantle

My Valentine's mantle is complete. It really is appropriate for any time of the year.
My theme comes straight from the Word:
LOVE from the Father and his commandment for us to LOVE one Another.
I added two new pieces since my last post. I had plans for a couple more too, and then I realized that Valentine's Day is less than a week away! I guess I'll work on those for next year.
I created this little 5x7 "Oh How HE Loves us" canvas in only a couple of minutes!
First I painted the canvas red. Add white vinyl letters and a ribbon around the edge. So simple!
What a great reminder for everyday, OH How HE Loves US!

My next project was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest.
I found all the supplies among my craft stuff! Yeah! I gathered some red buttons...
Wrapped a 5 x 7 canvas in burlap (you know how I LOVE burlap!)
Stapled around the edges (don't worry, I cover those staples!)
Created a heart template so I'd get the basic shape when adhering my buttons.
I used regular tacky glue for each button (no picture of that part-but you get the idea!)
And then I added ribbon around the edges using glue dots.
I love the combinations of textures and colors.
 Don't ever forget:
 John 13:34 "Love one another"
 Happy Valentine's Day!

Love One Another

With lots of red and talk of love this time of year,
I'm reminded of a great verse from the book of John:
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

With some burlap in hand I set out to create a banner for my mantle.
I made a small triangular template out of cardstock and cut out enough burlap for each letter.
With some red craft paint and foam letter stamps I stamped out LOVE ♥ ONE ♥ ANOTHER
I then attached the burlap triangles to red bias tape.

I placed the burlap in between the layers of the bias tape and then sewed along the top.

Last minute Valentines

The most creative things happen after hours, right?!
I made the girls t-shirt for their Valentine Parties at school...
and I started on them at 10:00pm the night before.
The t-shirts were pretty simple.
  • cut strips of 1" of fabric
  • sew a couple lengths together for a full heart
  • gather the fabric strips by stitching along the center of the fabric
  • pull the gathers evenly together
  • pin on the shirt in your desired pattern (in this case a heart)
  • stitch over the gathers all the way around the design
For this shirt I just did a small heart with just one length of the fabric

After I finished the t-shirts I realized I had to have a couple little treats for the bus driver, art teacher, etc...
so I wrapped valentine scrapbook around a Hershery bar:
And around a raspberry Ghirardelli's added some ribbon and a valentine greeting.
The first grade class made these cute little mice as their craft at their valentine party today.
I thought I'd share the idea with you:
