Stacked Wood Frames with Burlap Bow

A couple of things you might already know about me.
 I love painting wood.
I love burlap.
And I love photography.
I combined my love of these three things and came up with this:
A stacked wood picture frame with a large burlap bow!
I gathered the following supplies.
Two frames, a foam paint brush, paint, wood glue and burlap ribbon (all from Hobby Lobby).
The frames were fairly cheap, and even better when I got them on sale 40% off!
After I painted both frames and lightly distressed them around the edges.
I added wood glue to the small frame and glued it to the larger frame.
I just love this great big loose burlap ribbon.
It's so easy to make a nice big bow and hot glue it to the top of my new stacked wood frame.
I think I might make a dozen of these for various locations around my house.
And maybe a few for some friends!
**note**
Wood frames do not include glass.
However you can find a piece of glass from another frame (Dollar Store) or have one cut.

Merry Christmas from the Moores!

Some may think the five of us just get together, someone shoots a couple pictures and boom-we've got the perfect Christmas card photo....uh, not so much.  We have alot of takes!

We got together with our good friends the Harden's for our Christmas Card pictures this year.
(Actually we take each other's family pictures every time we're together!)
Give this girl the camera and you better believe she'll take pictures of herself (this is only one of many!)
And then she takes a stab at some portraits (not bad!)
 And gets a little artsy!
This photo shoot is serious business. Standing on a chair to get the right angle!
The proof is in the picture!
We went through a lot of this.
And a little of this.
And hopefully end up with some of this!
My kids are getting pretty good at this (they look quite angelic!)
And this one's get quite a lot of attention on Facebook.
It's nice to actually be in a couple pictures instead of behind the lens.
I love that they love to laugh with each other
(although I probably had to prompt them with a word like poop!)
Well its not perfect but we sure do have fun getting there!

And we get to spend more time with these five!
Merry Christmas!

Fall Portraits

Over the weekend I took the kids to a beautiful old rustic mansion for their fall portraits.
I decided a while ago that I'm just not crazy about school pictures-
I don't like the idea of having to order them before ever previewing them!
So here's my attempt to capture them at age 11 1/2, almost 10 and 7 1/2.

I had some fun editing and playing with the looks of the pictures.

I told Tyler I'd pay him $1.00 if he let his sister's kiss him.
Sometimes I'm not sure who these big kids are.
It feels like just yesterday I was changing diapers, filling up sippy cups and holding out for nap time!

Twin Two Year Olds

I get to hang out with two sweeties every week.

I've been watching them since they were wee-lil' ones and I have fond memories of trying to feed them both a bottle, at the same time! I am an experienced mother of three, but twins take the cake! It's been so fun to see them grow and change and say my name and follow me around the house (I didn't think that was so cute when my kids did that to me!)
This week they turned 2!
So of course I had to craft up something special just for them.
I was inspired by a shirt I saw at Target.
Just simple tulle sewed along the bottom of the shirt.
Little cupcake applique with the #2. Too cute!
Sidney and I decided it would be fun to have our own mini photo shoot.
It was quite the challenge to get them together
and then to get them to both look my way at the same time.
We had better luck with the individual photo's.
And then I tried to get them to hold up two fingers...

S U M M E R

On the shores of Lake Michigan is where you'll find me this summer. One of my favorites things to do there (next to lounging on a beach chair, hanging with my friends, watching my kids play blissfully in the sun, and just a short walk for a chat with my mom) is walk the shores looking for beach glass.

Happy Birthay to me!

I love the sunsets on Lake Michigan. We raced down to the beach to snap this picture. It was my birthday and we just came back from an over night trip to Chicago. We had so much fun. Thanks Ben! I love you!!

Happy Father's Day!

We got a new camera right before our trip to Florida. So I've been having fun playing around with the settings and stuff. I have some "formal" training (I took photography in High School and College). This digital stuff is a different ball game though. I'm not very tech-savy. I'm an old-school cut & paste kinda girl. I've got a couple things to learn about PhotoShop. Here is my first attempt at some "professional" portraits that I took of the kids. We made a book for Father's Day. It was tough narrowing down the 300-some pictures we took that day at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati. Oh yea, made the girls dresses too!

Simple Spring Wreath

If you've got 7 minutes and a couple bucks, you too can make this Simple Spring Wreath! You'll just need a couple supplies fr...
